Los Cabos

History and Overview:
Cabo San Lucas - We'll send you here!
Where the mountains melt into the desert and desert slips into the sea, you’ll find Los Cabos, at the tip of the Baja Peninsula. Surrounded by a dramatic union of cactus-dotted deserts and miles of white sandy beaches, Los Cabos was once used as a frequent stop for pirates awaiting passage on the Manila Galleons. In the last decade, Los Cabos’ sleepy hideaway atmosphere has given way to a burgeoning influx of visitors from all over the world.

Because it has many American visitor industries and is geographically separated from mainland Mexico, Los Cabos has acquired a distinct “north–of –the-border” atmosphere and attitude. The more secluded town of San Jose Del Cabo reflects this, while retaining a serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxing on the beach and romantic dinners by candlelight. San Jose Del Cabo is one of the oldest cities on the Baja, and is where the airport is located. Its companion city, Cabo San Lucas, is a bustling center of activity, and is considered by many visitors to be the center of the Los Cabos resort scene. Enjoy its sparkling nightlife, gourmet restaurants, and superb shopping. With its busy marina one can enjoy an afternoon boat excursion or a stroll to the sport-fishing dock to view the day’s catch. The opportunities for sightseeing in town, out in the country or out on the water are endless.

Outdoor Activities:

Los Cabos crystalline waters are teeming with sea life, ideal for snorkeling and diving. This area is also famed for the best game fishing in the world. With over 800 species of game fish, one can be sure to experience the thrill of hooking a marlin, sailfish, or dorado, just to name a few.

Looking for more excitement? Escape to the rugged outback on an ATV or horseback ride on the beach. Or, enjoy a round of golf on world-class greens designed by Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Pete and Perry Dye.

Attractions:

There is much to see in and around Los Cabos. Whether you’re sightseeing in the city, out in the countryside or out on the water there is a lot to see and do in Los Cabos. Take a trip out to the El Faro Lighthouse, surrounded by sea and sand dunes and the blue waters. Or take a long drive on the pacific side to see the hotel California, located inland (stop and watch the surfers on the way-it is really fun!)

Go for a ride in a water taxi to lovers beach, where the sea of cortez and the pacific meet. Then go over to see divorce beach on the pacific side. Lovers beach always is busy whereas divorce beach is usually very deserted. Take a trip out to Santiago to visit their zoo. Or go explore the city of San Jose Del Cabo for the day. With a wide array of things to do, you might have a hard time deciding.

Shopping and Nightlife:

You can find just about anything in Los Cabos – outstanding Mexican arts and crafts, fine resort wear or Mexican silver jewelry.

The nightlife sizzles in Cabo, with famous clubs like the Giggling Marlin (very fun place) and Cabo Wabo, owned by Sammy Hagar (worth going to). For a different pace, there is always a sunset stroll along on of the many beaches. Lover’s Beach is a favorite, where the waters of the sea of cortez and the pacific meet.

Several major fishing tournaments are held each fall.
