Manzanillo
History and Overview:
Squeezed onto a slender peninsula separating two bays. Manzanillo is surrounded by luxuriant jungle, tropical fruit plantations and deserted beaches. The streets of Manzanillo are narrow, filled with color and activity. Vacationers enjoy water sports, tennis, and great golfing. Manzanillo is a shipping/industrial city. Most people are attracted to the resorts around the area not the city itself.
Outdoor Activities:
The waters of Manzanillo are considered one of the best deep sea fishing spots in the world, teeming with sailfish (November and December) snapper, sea bass, and yellowtail (November through March).
Manzanillo is now home to 72 holes of fine golf. The magnificent La Mantarraya 18-hole course is rated by Golf Digest as one of the world’s top 100 courses. This Roy and Pete Dye designed course is next to Las Hadas Resort.
Shopping and Nightlife:
Manzanillo benefits from high quality Mexican crafts and interesting shopping. Arcades can be found in downtown and fine boutiques are in most hotels. Many restaurants boast romantic ocean views. Nightlife is more subdued than at other resorts.
