Mazatlan
Mazatlan is a dazzling combination of resorts, history and a bustling commercial port.Mazatlan . Well over 40 tons of shrimp are processed here each year, making Mazatlan the shrimp capital of the world.

Stay in the Zona Dorado (the hotel zone) for shopping, open air bistros and a variety of attractions and accommodations. Visit old Mazatlan, a colonial gathering of historic cathedrals, fishing docks and the Archaeological Museum. The La Peralta opera house in old Mazatlan has been refurbished and turned into a museum, it’s a must see and there are some great restaurants close by. Seperating these two distinct areas is the Malecon, a palm fringed colonnade that connects the Zona Dorado with the sights of Old Mazatlan.

Outdoor Activities:

Many activities can be found in Mazatlan. Whether it’s golf, tennis, or raquetball the facilities are deluxe. Fishing is outstanding in Mazatlan, and nearly 75 boats can be chartered. Among the daily catch, one can find sailfish, black, blue and striped marlin among many others. For a little bit of Spanish flavor, there are several bullfighting rings in the heart of the city with daily shows.

Here is a sample of some optional sightseeing tours you could take:

*City Tour:3 hours. The best way to learn your way around Mazatlan. Visit the central market and cathedral. Drive along the Oceanside, to where divers leap from cliffs. Bring your camera.

*Country Tour: 6 hours. Visit the small mountain towns of Concordia and Copia.

*Mazatlan Jungle Tour: 6 hours.

*Stone Island Tour: 5 hours. Enjoy a delightful trip on a catamaran to the tropical stone island on your way you will see the pirate cave and lighthouse. At the island you will have time to explore, swim or just relax. This tour should not be missed.

Shopping and Nightlife:

Long before Cancun and Ixtapa were even conceived, Mazatlan was famous for being an affordable and friendly vacation paradise. Bargain hunters and seafood lovers will find something to fit every budget and taste with a wide variety of restaurants offered. Local Fiestas feature dancing, mariachi bands and plentiful buffets that keep this city and its visitors on the go. Enjoy popular nightclubs where the fun never ends and dancing goes till dawn. Valentinos is a popular disco, which has 4 different bar areas, perched high overlooking the pacific.

Restaurants:

Because Mazatlan is the home of the worlds largest shrimp fleet, the dining scene showcases seafood, particularly shrimp.

*El Shrimp Bucket: The Original Restaurant opened in 1963. Serving shrimp specialties and seafood.

*Senor Frogs: The first senor frogs. Serves great food. Noisy, crazy and very fun!

*Playa Mazatlan Hotel: Check out their Mexican Fiesta, it’s the best!

*Joes Oyster Bar: Located by Los Sabalos Hotel.
